About us
The Swedish Government has given Ecolabelling Sweden the overall responsibility for the Nordic Swan Ecolabel and the EU Ecolabel in Sweden.
We aim to contribute to achieving Sweden's overarching consumer policy goal: "well-functioning consumer markets and environmentally, socially, and economically sustainable consumption."
The company was founded in 1989 and is 100% state-owned. It operates on a non-profit basis and is financed partly through fees from companies holding ecolabelling licenses and partly through a government grant.
The Nordic Swan Ecolabel can be found throughout the entire Nordic region
The Nordic Swan Ecolabel is a Nordic ecolabel, which means that the Nordic countries have the Nordic Swan Ecolabel in common. Each country has its own ecolabelling secretariat, which is responsible for the country's activities. Each secretariat handles licence applications, inspection visits and marketing in their respective countries. Each country is also responsible for its own country's position in product groups and criteria issues.
