The EU Green Deal

  1. EU Green Deal

The EU Green Deal is a comprehensive strategy that aims to make the EU the first climate-neutral continent, by 2050. The Green Deal includes a wide range of legislation that in various ways places demands on companies throughout the EU to ensure a more sustainable and competitive business sector.

What is the EU Green Deal?

The EU Green Deal, launched in December 2019, is a plan to make Europe climate neutral by 2050 and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by at least 55% compared to 1990 levels by 2030.

The Green Deal consists of green strategies, legislative proposals and initiatives. The plan covers all sectors of the economy, including investment, production, consumption and technological development. It is designed to address the challenges posed by climate change and biodiversity loss, while ensuring a just and sustainable transition to a green economy.

The plan includes, among other things, a comprehensive transformation of the energy system, including a significant increase in the use of renewable energy, measures to increase energy efficiency and electrification of sectors such as transport and heating. In addition, the transition to a more circular economy is an important part of the Green Deal, which means that resources will be used more efficiently through recycling and reuse.
